Advances in linear dispatch console workstation design have put users first - technology integration has improved and user comfort and focus features are more efficient and effective. Teams now have outstanding options for desktop convenience power and data. What are the convenience port solutions for operators who prefer the conventional 90 degree, corner unit?

User accessible data and power

Operators and IT techs benefit from having desk-top, quick-connect ports. Work tools that require frequent or rapid replacement can be swapped with ease. This small and important feature mitigates position down-time.

Updated public safety consoles improve the user experience

Advances in linear dispatch console workstation design have put users first - technology integration has improved and user comfort and focus features are more efficient and effective.

The user-centered focus is especially noticeable on modern, linear dispatch console desks that integrate power and data into the dashboard of the console, where operators can quickly connect work tools and personal devices. The centralized location remains accessible, within the operator’s reach, even when the surface and monitors adjust.

The inset images, below, show the position of the ports and the open-cover rear dashboard trough where cables are neatly routed and protected.

Conventional 90 degree, Corner unit solutions

Most manufacturers nest quick-connect solutions between the primary surface and the keyboard surface.

These units provide as many as 10 configurable ports for Cat5/6, RJ11/12, Audio and USB. An effective data unit, positioned between surfaces, will include flexible cabling to accommodate height adjustable surfaces.

Note: It is recommended that under-surface or between-surface units NOT contain comfort controls, especially heat. When positioned in a location where one surface passes in front of another, the effectiveness of the appliance is diminished, and over time heat can damage surface materials. Heaters might also overheat if airflow is impeded.

A desktop multi-port option keeps the work space clear

For Centers seeking a desktop-mounted solution for quick-connect data + power, consider the advantage of multi-port units.

Multi-ports offer a blended solution for active dispatch centers who seek to provide the operator with accessible data and power for equipment and personal devices. The Multi-Port shown above is used in tandem with a TechLink unit, providing the operator with access to charge their phone and electronic reader. For centers with limited need for data at the desktop, Multi-ports can replace larger data/power units.

Customers typically elect to position two units per dispatch console desk, one on either edge. Each unit can have up to four ports. This gives IT and the operator unencumbered access to data and power.

Specifying consoles? Be sure you have quick-connect power and data at the desktop.
